Announcement: World Zombie Day 2012 is THIS SATURDAY!!!

YAAAAHH!!! It's Pittsburgh Underground's favorite month of the year - OCTOBER!!! With that said, it's time for all the ghastly and ghoulish to crawl from their crypts and join in on all the bloody fun of World Zombie Day 2012 created by Pittsburgh's own Professor Emcee Square (aka Mark Menold)  from the It's Alive Show!

For those of you interested in what a World Zombie Day in Pittsburgh looks like, check out THIS PU POST we brought to you last year.

To say this meeting of the post-mortem is HUGE would be an understatement. In it's sixth year, this rain or shine FREE event will bring creeps and cannibals from all over the region to converse on West End Village this year on Saturday, October 13th from noon to 9PM to claim the Guinness World Record for "Largest Gathering of Zombies"!

This means we want you to register for the event! It won't take long, and it GUARANTEE'S Pittsburgh its rightful place as the Zombie Capital of the World! For those boys and ghouls planning to attend, fill out the World Zombie Day Registration Form and bring it with you to hand off in the Express Lane as soon as you get there! WE WANT TO WIN!!!

That's right gang - this is a WORLDWIDE event meaning we are actually competing with other cities across the globe! From Adelaide, Australia to Worcester, England - the entire world is out to best Pittsburgh as the Zombie Capital of the World (which we all know isn't the case - Pittsburgh is the birthplace of the zombie!). Don't believe us? Check out the Official World Zombie Day Site for more info on the global mayhem!

Now you're probably asking yourself, what makes Pittsburgh's World Zombie Day event so special? Pittsburgher's have the biggest hearts of any in America and to prove it our World Zombie Day will also be taking charitable donations for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank. That's right my zombie minions - if you want to eat the brains and flesh of the living, you'll need to fatten them up first! That means bringing few of your non-perishable food items along with you (hey, your undead - you won't be needed them anyway right?!).

This day is going to be PACKED full of great things to do!  During the day, attendees can peruse over 30 vendors and enjoy entertainment.

THE DAY'S ACTIVITIES INCLUDE:
Live bands - Weird Paul, Invader, The Graveyard Rockers, The Bloody Seamen, PLUS a surprise guest from beyond the grave! Note: there is bleacher style seating in the front of the stage, but to ensure a seat bring a chair or a blanket.

Contests: The Zombie Olympics, Brain Eating Contest, Ugly Pageant, and Best Scream Contest.

Vendors, food, beer, oddities, games, and more.

The first annual ZOMBIE MOTORCYCLE RUN

The Walk of the Dead. This year Pittsburgh will attempt to once again claim the Guinness world record for "Largest Gathering of Zombies"

ALSO FEATURED:

Our old pal Barnabus Bailey and the Greatest Show Unearthed will be there perusing the battle field of zombie brethren so keep your peepers peeled for the Barnabus tent and vote for which of five tattoo designs created by the artists at Wilde Child Tattoo Studios - one will be etched into his rotten corpse by Wyld Chyld owner and artist Sarah Miller featured on Ink Master / Season 2 on Spike TV!!!

Please note that both South Main Street and Alexander Street will be closed during the event. There's free on-street parking and a convenient bus stop for those who want to use public transit. Station Square and Park Way Center Mall are two options for parking for those who would like to take the bus to West End Village. Others can park on the North Shore and walk the West End Bridge

Don't forget! There will be after parties at The Village Tavern and the West End Cafe until 2am (both bars are on South Main Street which is the main street of the event).

Hope to see all of you of you rotten and reeling this Saturday starting at 9am!!! Don't forget your canned goods for the Greater Pittsburgh Community Food Bank!!!
