Movies That Have Everything: Justice League STARTS TODAY!!!

Here’s a movie that feels like it took a lifetime to finally come to the silver screen! Justice League explodes into theaters today! Check out the trailer below...

Justice League (2017 Trailer / DC Comics / Warner Brothers)

Do we really need to explain the Justice League to you? It’s only been around in some form or another since 1960, created by Gardner Fox and first appearing in ‘The Brave and the Bold #28”, but debuting in their own title in 1962. You probably know them by other names as well - Justice League of America, The JLA,  or even by it’s more popular kid friendly title ‘ The Super Friends’ (as it was titled during it’s Hanna Barbara animated roots between 1973 to 1986).
1st Appearance of Justice League / Brave and the Bold #28
(1960 DC Comics)

The original roster of team members have changed over the years, but most of the core members remained at one point or another in their very long history: Batman, Superman, Wonder Woman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Martian Manhunter.

Justice League #1 (DC Comics / 1987)

Others have joined in throughout the years as the team changed from time to time - Green Arrow, The Atom, Shazam, Firestorm, Black Canary, Vixen, Fire and Ice, Green Lantern’s Guy Gardner and John Stewart, Blue Beetle and Booster Gold, Power Girl, Doctor Fate, Cyborg, Mr. Miracle, and even the Czarnian bounty hunter Lobo was a member. The list goes on and on as the never ending rotating team has always been a showcase of DC Comics characters over the years.

The Super Friends (1973-1985 / DC Comics / Hanna Barbara)

It’s spawned four different animated series starting with The Super Friends in the 1970’s to the superior Bruce Timm designed Justice League and Justice League Limited in the early 2000’s, and then Justice League Action from 2016 to the present day.

Justice League The Animated Series (Warner Brothers Animation)

This is the first time we are getting an all out blockbuster cast to portray the heroes we’ve all come to love throughout the years. Directed by Zack Snyder and written by Chris Terrio and Joss Whedon the cast includes Gal Gadot (Wonder Woman / Diana Prince), Ben Affleck (Batman / Bruce Wayne), Jason Momoa (Aquaman / Arthur Curry), Ezra Miller (The Flash / Barry Allen), Ray Fisher (Cyborg / Victor Stone), and back from the ‘grave’ Henry Cavill (Superman / Clark Kent).

Also joining the cast are Amy Adams (Lois Lane), Diane Lane (Martha Kent), J.K. Simmons (Commissioner Gordon), Jeremy Irons (Alfred Pennyworth), Jesse Eisenberg (Lex Luthor), Amber Herd (Mera), Connie Neilsen (Queen Hippolyta), Robin Wright (Antiope), Kiersey Clemons (Iris West), Billy Crudup (Henry Allen), Joe Morton (Dr. Silas Stone), and Ciarán Hinds (Steppenwolf).

Justice League Vol. 2, #1 (DC Comics / 2011)

The plot reads as follows: Fueled by his restored faith in humanity and inspired by Superman's selfless act, Bruce Wayne enlists the help of his newfound ally, Diana Prince, to face an even greater enemy. Together, Batman and Wonder Woman work quickly to find and recruit a team of metahumans to stand against this newly awakened threat. But despite the formation of this unprecedented league of heroes-Batman, Wonder Woman, Aquaman, Cyborg and The Flash-it may already be too late to save the planet from an assault of catastrophic proportions.

Justice League starts today at your local theater and as Chops’s mom would say ‘enjoy your super friends movie’!

The Punisher (2017 Trailer / Marvel Comics / Netflix)

The Punisher, created by Gerry Conway, John Romita Jr. and Ross Andru, first hit Marvel Comics in The Amazing Spider-Man #129 back in 1974. Inarguably one of the most violent ‘anti-heroes’ in Marvel’s stable of characters, Frank Castle, a former U.S. marine, becomes the titular vigilante after his family is murdered by the mob. From there he holds nothing back employing everything from murder, extortion, kidnaping, coercion, and torture in his one man war against crime.
First Appearance of The Punisher in The Amazing Spider-Man #129
(Marvel Comics / 1974)

Spun off from the Netflix MCU series Daredevil, Frank Castle is portrayed by Jon Bernthal (Shane of Walking Dead fame) and is joined by Deborah Ann Woll who resumes her role as Karen Page, a character who played a pivotal role in Frank Castle’s storyline as it unfolded in Daredevil Season 3.

Journey Into Mystery #101 / The Mighty Thor #150 (Marvel Comics)

Hela, created by the famous duo of Stan Lee and Jack Kirby first appeared during the silver age of comics in Journey into Mystery #102 back in 1964. She’s based on the Norse goddess, Hel who was the child of Loki and the giantess Angrboða who, when she came of age, was appointed the Goddess of Death by Odin, giving her rulership over the dead in the realms of both Hel and Niflheim. She frequently battled Thor who often tried to expand her power into the realm of Valhalla, the realm of the honored dead. For the film version, Hela is the eldest daughter of Odin and sister to both Thor and Loki (although her motives for power reflect that of her comic book counterpart).

A lot of reviews are already pouring in stating that this is one of the most entertaining Marvel movies since Guardians of the Galaxy. Thor: Ragnarok bolts into theaters this weekend!
