Happy August everyone! The summer movie season is winding down and with it comes a highly anticipated flick from the gang at DC Comics - Suicide Squad opens TODAY!!! Check out the trailer below:

Suicide Squad / 2016 Trailer (DC Comics / Warner Bros.)

The flick is based off the DC Comic of the same name features Amanda Waller (Viola Davis) as she assembles a ruthless team of DC villains led by Colonel Rick Flag (Joel Kinnaman) and his bodyguard Katana (Karen Fukuhara): psycho Joker ex-girlfriend Harley Quinn (Margot Robbie), elite hitman Deadshot (Will Smith), pyrokinetic gangster El Diablo (Jay Hernandez), Flash villain Captain Boomerang (Jai Courtney), Batman nemesis Killer Croc (Adewale Akinnuoye-Agbaje), mercenary Slipknot (Adam Beach), and the possessed Enchantress (Cara Delevingne) to execute some daring doo for the U.S. government in exchange for clemency from their crimes. And of course... there’s the Joker (Jared Leto).

DC Comics Suicide Squad
1st Appearance - The Brave and the Bold #3
2nd Incarnation - Legends #3 / The New 52- Issue 1

Suicide Squad (aka Task Force X) created by Robert Kanigher and Ross Andru first hit the pages of DC Comics back in The Brave and the Bold #25 in 1959 and then recreated by John Ostrander in Legends #3 back in 1997. The roster is ever changing as villains are caught, escape, or in some cases - expire. The premise however, always remained the same - covert operatives of a villainous nature being forced to do the ‘questionable’ for the United States government, most times with the themes reflecting the signs of the times.

Suicide Squad starts today as part of DC’s extended universe so grab your squad and keep cool in your local theater!
