Artsy Fartsy: Potty Poetry at Future Tenant Gallery

Greetings gang! Just a heads up to follow your nose to the Future Tenant Gallery for Potty Poetry from October 16th, 2011 to January 1st, 2012!

This site-specific installation by Sean O’Donnell and Darrell Kinsel will be featured in Future Tenant’s bathroom as a collaborative project that has spun out of the local literary journal Ophelia Street.

Artist Darrell Kinsel / Potty Poetry

One recurring subject on OpheliaStreet.com is a photo series on bathroom Graffiti. Potty Poetry will combine the two art forms of bathroom graffiti and Japanese poetry in the Future Tenant bathroom. The goal of this installation is to engage the audience to think about bathroom graffiti and poetry in different ways, expanding the audiences’ perception of graffiti —beyond the visual (as art) and beyond clever one-liners (as literature).

The installation will be on display in the Future Tenant bathroom during gallery hours from October 16th to January 1st. For more information, please visit www.futuretenant.org.

This project was supported in part by the Pennsylvania Council on the Arts, a state agency funded by the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania and the National Endowment for the Arts, a federal agency.

Future Tenant is a non-profit art space located in downtown Pittsburgh at 819 Penn Avenue dedicated to showcasing the work of emerging artists through exhibitions that offer a cutting edge perspective on the Pittsburgh art scene.
