Announcement: Here We Go Again...

Greetings all you ghouls and fools once again to Pittsburgh Underground! Not to understate the obvious (or to start the year deflated),  but let’s face it, 2016 was an exhausting year for most of us. Between all the usual ups and downs that life hands us, the senseless violence at home and throughout the world, a cantankerous and cheerless election year, and the losses of so many of our best and brightest performers that made 2016 feel like the beginning of the end of all that was good and happy in our world. 

Yes gang, no one can deny it was a hard year and entering 2017 with all the upcoming uncertainties that we face makes looking at the lighter side of things even more challenging. With that said, it’s safe to say that what we do have is each other to pull ourselves through the hard times, never take for granted those quiet moments that come around so rarely, and to do what we can to make each other laugh whenever possible.

Ultimately, that’s always been the goal of Pittsburgh Underground - to dig deep and find those happy moments to share with our readers. The tradition continues as we move into 2017.

Last year, Pittsburgh celebrated it’s Bicentennial which is nothing to sneeze at! We’re a strong community who evolved drastically from being known as the ‘steel city’ to now being one of the premiere technology centers in the world. As most Pittsburgher’s know, we are constantly adapting, improving, and growing. Pittsburgh is also now known as one of the top food cities in the United States and was recently named as one of the top destinations to travel to in the world as well (check out this article from KDKA for details). In a word, we have a lot to be proud of going into the new year.

Pittsburgh Underground will be with you all the way as we approach our seventh season to celebrate all these wonders our fair city has to offer. From food, to pop culture, live theater, art exhibits, festivals, and all the weird, kitschy, and kooky in between. Also, don’t forget that if you’re involved in an event that sounds like it fits within our  ‘unique’ brand of news, let us know as far in advance as possible and we’ll do our best to get the word out so everyone can join in on the fun.
