Announcement: SWAN Day 2012 Pittsburgh Begins NEXT WEEK!

Greetings ladies and germs! Our good friend Tressa Glover, Producing Artistic Diector with the No Name Players was nice enough to give us the scoop on an amazing annual event that they are sponsoring here in our fair city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania next week beginning March 15th and continuing throughout the following day.

SWAN (Support Women Artists Now) Day, is an international holiday that was founded in 2008. Co-founder Martha Richards named SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 an official international SWAN Day partner! We were named alongside events in Kenya, Bulgaria, New York, Massachusetts, Connecticut, and Florida. Ms. Richards will also be coming to Pittsburgh for our Opening Night festivities!

SWAN Day Pittsburgh 2012 marks No Name Players’ fourth annual SWAN Day event and will take place on March 15th and 16th at The New Hazlett Theater. The event will feature world premiere works by Pittsburgh-based female musicians, dancers, poets, theatre artists, visual artists, performance artists, and fashion designers.

What makes our event particularly unique is the fact that every performance and work of art will be inspired by interviews with women from all across Pennsylvania. No Name Players traveled across the state filming interviews with women of all ages and from all backgrounds. This footage was then given to the participating artists and those artists were asked to use that footage as inspiration to create new works. There is no other event of this kind happening in the city of Pittsburgh!

The amazing lineup of artists includes:
- Bodiography Contemporary Ballet
- STAYCEE PEARL Dance Project
- Continuum Dance Theater-resident company of  Evolve Productions
