It's showtime kids! Our friends, The No Name Players present The Book of Liz starting June 10th at 8PM.
Written by David and Amy Sedaris (Strangers With Candy, The Santaland Diaries) and directed by Artistic Director Don DiGiulio, this hilarious “Amish picaresque” was billed by the New York Times as “a delightfully off-key, off-color hymn to clichés we all live by, whether we know it or not”.
The No Name Players in The Book of Liz
Our story is set in the Squeamish community of Cluster Haven where we meet Sister Elizabeth Donderstock, creator of the world famous Cluster Haven cheese balls. As our story begins, Sister Donderstock driven from her home by the machinations of the newest Cluster Haven resident, Brother Nathaniel Brightbee, who believes that the cheese balls would be better served if they are created at the hands of a man. Sister Elizabeth Donderstock then leaves her Squeamish home, and sets off on a journey of self-discovery and adventure.
The show starts this Friday, June 10th through June 25th, Thursdays through Saturdays at the Pittsburgh Playwrights Theater at 542 Penn Avenue, Pittsburgh PA 15222. Tickets are $15.00 in advance and $20.00 at the door.
The gang at Pittsburgh Underground will be attending an invited preview one day before showtime and will be giving you the skinny on the show shortly thereafter.
