Comics To Rot Your Brain: Ed Piskor's Hip Hop Family Tree At The HollyWood Theater THIS THURSDAY!!!

Hip Hop Family Tree
Ed Piskor / Cartoonist (2013)

The historic Hollywood Theater in Dormont is proud to welcome cartoonist Ed Piskor to a special event, celebrating his new book, Hip Hop Family Tree.

Piskor, a native of Pittsburgh, is perhaps best known for Wizzywig, his meticulously researched history of phone phreaking and computer hacking. Lauded by a very diverse set of critics, from The Comics Journal to Wired, Wizzywig demonstrated Piskor's talent for distilling often obtuse facts into a compulsively readable (and relatable) narrative.

On October 10, Piskor will discuss the experience of bringing Hip-Hop Family Tree to fruition. He will also discuss and screen Wild Style, the 1983 film that played a major role in bringing Hip-Hop culture to the mainstream.

As a special bonus for attendees, Piskor has created a print inspired by Hip-Hop Family Tree. This signed and numbered print are available for sale here. Purchase of the print, pictured here, also entitles the buyer to a discounted admission to the event. Piskor will also have advance copies of his book for sale and signing.

Regular admission to the October 10 screening is just $10/person. Doors will open at 7PM and the event will begin at 8PM.

The gang from Pittsburgh Underground are big fans of Ed (who's also a hell of a nice guy!) So get your ass to the Hollywood Theater this Thursday night to support local comics at it's very best!
