Artsy Fartsy: Rage of the Stage Players present Dorothy in OZ
Greetings gang! Looking for something amazing to do this weekend? How about clicking those ruby slippers and returning to Oz!!! The final two showings of DOROTHY IN OZ, by award-winning Pittsburgh playwright, James Michael Shoberg and The Rage of the Stage Players will be held at Off The Wall Theater in Carnegie, PA tonight (Friday, March 28th) tomorrow evening (Saturday, March 29th)! SEATS ARE FILLING FAST for this play returning from its UK premiere, so make your reservations today!
Set in the Ozlin Center, a facility for the mentally ill, "DOROTHY IN OZ" follows the story of a bi-polar Dorothy "Dottie" Gale (Adrienne Fischer), who is involuntarily committed by her Aunt Em (Renee Cuerden) and Uncle Henry. While hospitalized, she is treated with Cyclozil, an experimental drug, which causes her to hallucinate a dark, twisted version of the hospital simply called--"Oz." While in her drug-induced delirium, Dottie encounters Glinda (Carrie Jubilee), a somewhat unhinged therapist, who informs Dottie that her only chance to be released is to seek the hospital’s mysterious administrator--The "Great Oz" (Matthew Grimm), himself. Thus begins her trip through a veritable madhouse, where she is joined by "Skarekrow" (Nick Kempen), a heroin-addicted goth-rocker; Rusty (Joseph Stammerjohn), a pierced, ax-wielding biker with severe anger issues; and Mr. Lyons (Joseph A Roots), a sexually frustrated deviant searching for a prescription to give him a little "courage" below the belt. However, if coping with her three new companions wasn’t difficult enough, Dottie unwittingly attracts the attention of the Wicked Witch of the West Wing (Jen James), a crazed doctor who sends her three cronies (Brian Seymour, Devin Hunt, and Gered Duke), each the subject of one of her deranged experiments, to capture Dottie for her own depraved purposes.
